The release of baccalaureate results in July sent a flood of traffic to academic sites, as excited secondary school students logged in to see their exam results. The highest gainer from this influx was Resultat-Examen.eu which grew by 486 percent to attract 2.3 million unique visitors. It was joined by other academic sites France-Examen.com, which grew 116 percent to 2.5 million unique visitors, and the official government site Education.gouv.fr, which grew 52 percent to reach 1.7 million.
Delphine Gatignol, Comscore’s Business Development Manager for France, observed “This explosion in traffic to academic sites is a clear example of how people are increasingly relying on the Internet as a source of immediate and authoritative information. Millions of students have opted for the convenience of viewing their results online: a clear sign of their trust in the medium’s ability to deliver the correct information for what is such an important moment in their life.”
New online gaming site Miniville.fr showed strong early growth to become France’s second fastest growing site in July, increasing traffic by 231 percent to 2.6 million unique visitors. The site allows free access to an online Sim City style city building simulation game, where players can found and name a city.
