Barack Obama’s Visit to Germany Sends Flood of Traffic to Political Sites
Facebook Continues to Expand Its German Audience
LONDON, U.K., September 10, 2008 –Comscore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its July rankings of the largest and fastest-growing Internet properties and site categories in Germany based on data from the Comscore World Metrix audience measurement service.
Interest in U.S. Presidential candidate Barack Obama, whose visit to Berlin kicked off the European leg of his worldwide tour on July 24, generated a 28-percent increase in visitors to the politics site category, making it the fastest-growing category during the month. July also saw increases to the pharmacy, real estate, family and business-to-business site categories.
The fastest-growing site in July was video-sharing site Megavideo.com, which grew 133 percent to 1.5 million visitors, while the release of an updated version of the Firefox Web browser propelled a 119-percent increase to The Mozilla Organisation. Facebook.com, which introduced a German language interface in March, grew 29 percent to 1.5 million visitors.
