Holiday Season Drives Strong Growth in Shipping, E-Card and Retail Sites
Several Noteworthy Happenings Produce Gains in Taxes, Lotto and Weather Subcategories
RESTON, VA, January 20, 2014 – Comscore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its monthly ranking of U.S. desktop web activity at the top online properties for December 2013 based on data from the Comscore MMX service. Holiday e-commerce was the primary driver of growth in the Shipping and Retail subcategories, while Christmas and New Year’s also spurred a surge in e-card website traffic. Additionally, preparations for the upcoming 2014 tax season, a near record-breaking Mega Millions lottery jackpot and some exceptionally cold December weather propelled an influx of online visitors to these respective subcategories.
