Consumers set up a blockbuster holiday season at the Box Office
On Thursday, California passed the California Consumer Privacy Act, AB-375. This law does not go into effect until January 1, 2020, and will provide consumers with more transparency and control for the information that businesses collect on them:
Comscore products and services help our customers measure audience and consumer behavior across media platforms, while also providing a validation of advertising delivery and its effectiveness.
Comscore has a longstanding privacy compliance program in place. We recognize the importance and significance of consumers’ ability to control their personal information and have built this principle into our products and services. As part of our privacy program, Comscore worked to prepare for the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which recently became enforceable. The California Consumer Privacy Act, AB-375, will provide California consumers with additional transparency and control over personal information that businesses collect on them. As a multinational company, Comscore will be able to leverage its existing privacy compliance framework, including its GDPR compliance tools, to support AB-375 requirements.
AB-375 is scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2020. Over the next 18 months, Comscore will evaluate AB-375 and prepare to comply with any obligations applicable to Comscore, in addition to continuing to monitor legal and legislative developments in California and elsewhere.
